Yangtze River
Probably the most relaxing part of our entire trip was 2 and a half days on a cruise ship on the Yangtze River. We stopped for a couple of day trips, but mostly enjoyed just sitting and watching the countryside as we travelled down the river toward Shanghai. We finished the trip with a couple of days in Japan while some of our traveling companions went on to Xian.
By 2009. the water level on the Yangtze will have risen to the 175 metre mark seen in this photo. The 3 Gorges Dam project will submerge entire towns.
